I’m a thirty three year old man living in Colorado.  I’ve got a wife and family and have found that an enduring passion of mine is cooking good, homemade food that nourishes my family.

More recently, I’ve begun to pay more attention to the ingredients that go into that food.  After reading Michael Pollan’s books The Omnivore’s Dilemma, In Defense of Food, and Food Rules, I have become acutely aware of how unnatural I felt eating processed, heavily refined foods.  It just doesn’t feel “right” to me and the more I’ve experimented with eating “real” food, the better I’ve felt both mentally and physically (well, at least I think I feel better physically…but I suppose it could be entirely mental).

I am an aspiring foodie, meaning that I absolutely love to cook, but do not yet have the skills or experience to branch out much beyond the written recipe.

The purpose of this blog is to chronicle my journey into becoming a more accomplished cook and simultaneously a healthier eater.

I’m also a hopeless kitchen gadget and Costco addict, so I will detour into discussions on either topic from time to time (you can only imagine the happy day it is in our house when a trip to Costco yields a new kitchen gadget…it’s like Christmas morning!)
